Nearabout is made by Brian Renshaw. It does not require a separate Nearabout account and does not include advertising or third-party analytics.
Your lists and iCloud
Your lists and related information are stored on your device. Saved lists, places, notes, groups, starting points, saved routes, and supported settings sync using your private iCloud database when iCloud is available. Unsaved temporary lists remain on the current device. Appearance settings also stay on each device.
Nearabout does not send your library to a developer-operated server. You can remove saved items within the app; deletions are carried to your other devices through sync.
Search, maps, and location
Place searches, map displays, and travel estimates use Apple’s Maps services. Search terms, addresses, and the locations needed for those requests are processed by Apple under its privacy policy.
Nearabout asks for location permission only when you choose to use your current location. You can enter a starting address instead. It does not track your location in the background.
Sharing and exports
Copying, sharing, saving a document, or sending a list to Notes exports the content you choose. Check the included addresses, starting point, and notes before sharing. The optional Notes action uses an Apple Shortcut you install. Opening an Apple Maps or Google Maps link sends the selected location to that service.
Nearabout’s share extension receives the links or addresses you explicitly share with it and lets you choose where to save them.
Beta testing and support
Apple’s TestFlight service may provide beta feedback and diagnostic information under Apple’s terms. If you contact support, your email and any information you include are used to respond to your request. Please omit private addresses or other information that is not needed to explain an issue.
